Clearing The Closet 4

So far things have been going great with this little project of clearing out the closet in the spare room. Hopefully we can keep the streak alive, and when finished I will have tons of spare room. While you the readers will have some cool sets in your collections. That is the goal of this entire project isn't it?

With today being the first race of the contenders round today will be a bit more interesting than usual. First off, I will still be doing the NASCAR post this evening about the race. Second is I decided it would be cool to make today's theme car related.

1994 18 Wheelers
::CLAIMED::

Before getting started I'd like to point out the obvious. That being the diesel I chose is pink colored, and was done in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

When I bought these cards I was dating a girl, and her dad was a truck driver. We thought it would be a great Christmas present if we put together a set of these cards for him. The problem is to make it happen we had to buy a box of the cards. They were very tough cards to find so buying a lone set was out of the question. What is left from that box is a set of 100 cards that is missing 4 of the cards.

1991 Muscle Cards
::CLAIMED::

While one of the coolest sets I have, it is also the weirdest. What makes this set so cool is the subject of muscle cars. The thing that makes it the weirdest is the set is listed at 102 cards, but has two header cards to make it 104 cards. Those header cards isn't what makes the set so weird. It is the fact that sets are usually 20, 50, 75, 100, etc. This is the only set I have ever seen that contains the crazy number 102.

Clearing The Closet 3

Today's helping not only veers from the non-sports feel that we have had for the last two days. Keeping with what I did last night it also has a sort of theme going for it. Whenever possible on these I think I'm going to go with a theme as it just seems cooler to me.

So, doing the theme idea for today. We will go with cards that can either make you hungry, or lose your appetite. I guess it all depends on how you feel about what it took to complete the first set. For our second set it all depends on how you feel about fast food, and what it took to complete that set.

1993 Hostess Baseball

Whenever I see these cards I remember eating those baseball cakes that it took to build this set. While some people weren't big fans of those cakes I actually loved them for awhile. As time went by, and I ate more, and more of them I hit the wall. By the end of their time I was so sick of these things that the sight of them would make me curl over.

Now about the set itself for those who don't know about it. This is a 32 card set that is chalked full of stars from 1993. Among the list is Griffey Jr., Henderson, Mattingly, etc.

1993 McDonald's Basketball
::CLAIMED::

If you would like to see pictures of this set here is an ebay link 1993 McDonald's Basketball.

For those not in the know on why I am linking, and not showing a picture of this set. Back in February of 2013 a co-worker I was friends with died. He was a huge basketball fan, and despite not being an NBA fan I would learn things to talk. I was the only person at the time who would talk basketball with him, and he'd enjoy talking basketball to someone. I still don't care for the NBA even now as it just doesn't appeal to me. So in his honor this is a basketball card picture free zone.

As you can see from the ebay link. This is a 50 card set with all 50 cards included.

Clearing The Closet 2

After seeing both sets claimed fairly quickly I am back with two new sets that are there for the taking. Today's theme has a kind of artistic feel to it.

1993 Star Trek Master Series
::CLAIMED::

These are some very cool looking cards. When they originally came out I bought a box of both these, and the Star Wars cards. All I can say about these is if you are a Trekkie, or just fan of the show this is a must have set. Containing 90 cards the artwork on these are amazing, and well worth adding to the collection.

1994 Keith Parkinson
::CLAIMED::

Another great set of cards containing art. Keith's collection is full of fantasy art like the one above is full of mostly dragons, and girls. There are lots of other fantasy elements as well, but the dragons, and women dominate the set of 90 cards.  Personally the card above is my favorite from the set, and one I believe I have autographed in another box.

Clearing The Closet 1

After getting a good share of my collections moved into the new hobby room. There is still a decent sized amount of stuff I either used to collect, or still do. The problem is, with the way things stand right now I have no room to put all this stuff into the new room.

In an attempt to narrow down some of these items I came up with the idea to offer this unwanted stuff here. My plan is to try one post a day for the next week offering up two or more of these for the taking. If I come up with more things, or the success rate is better than I am expecting this might stretch into a month long event. Right now the plan is for a full week though so we will just go for that.

Most of this stuff will be non-sport cards as I collected a bunch of these in the early to mid 90's. Some of these will be partial sets as I was planning on completing them one day. One day has never come, and at this point never will. These partial sets are all at your mercy on their fate. Other sets are complete, but have just never found a home for them.

Anything that goes unclaimed will either go into a box, and odds are one day will end up being recycled or sent to Goodwill. Some might not even make it into a box, and just end up recycled or Goodwilled. So if you see something you want stake a claim, and it is yours. I'm not asking for anything guaranteed in return, but if wanted to send me some cards, pocket schedules, or something in return then who am I to stop you?

Now with all this out of the way let's get to the first two sets that would love to find themselves a good home.

1991 Yo! Mtv Raps
::CLAIMED::

It was 1991, and rap was hitting the main stream. You look at these cards, and there is no way you would think that these guys were from poor neighborhoods. I'd still love right now to own one of those gold chains, or rings they were wearing. If all this doesn't sell you on needing this set of cards I have just one card left to show you. A card that says it all.

Hammerpants!!!

This set is 100 cards, and has all 100 in it. Just look at the Hammer he's looking for a new home for this set.

1993 WildC.A.T.S
::CLAIMED::

At one time this was a very popular comic book. I wasn't into the comic myself, but at the time I was selling cards at card shows in the area. Hoping to sell the cards, and make my money back on the box, and still have a set for myself. This is a left over set from that idea. I believe I sold a set or two at the time, but I honestly can't remember so who knows if I really did. What I do know is I still have this 100 card set left from back then.

Remember if you want either of these just let me know, and they are all yours. Look for two more sets of something tomorrow in this little project.
